Go and Maker Fishers of Men
Matthew 4:18-20 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the Lake, for they were fishermen. "Come, follow me." Jesus said, " and I will make you fishers of men." At once they left their nets and followed him.
As I reflected on my day yesterday I was reminded of these verses. I had a meeting with a man in his office who was in need of a touch from God. As he shared with me his frustrations and struggles I listened. After listening, I guided him to the WORD of God. I left his office asking God why He was never given the simple Word of God to assure him of his situations in life. This man believes in the Lord, loves Him, and goes to church. I received a call from the man later that afternoon thanking me for showing him in the Word of God the answers he needed and that I was the first person willing to take him to the Word of God and not give him my opinions.
God's Word is all that is needed to enable us to live for God in this world. God sent his Son to die for us through his atoning sacrifice. Jesus made fishers of men. I would challenge all of us to consider becoming fishers of men just as Jesus taught Peter and Andrew. For us the Holy Spirit lives in us and we can bring people to the Word of God. Hebrews 4:12 " For the word of God is living and active. sharper than any double-edged sword. it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joint, and marrow:
On another occasion this month a 19 year old teenager said to me "I want what you have" I told him that everything I have is what the Word of God tells me. His hunger showed me how much people truly want the answers to life and they are looking for them anywhere they can find them. I looked into his eyes before leaving the hospital room and could tell that fear was present. I spoke to him that God does not give us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. I agreed to stay a little longer and prayed with him till the fear was gone.
On two occassions this month I have prayed with people as it related to healings that they needed. As I left each of these people I said to them, "If you begin to get hot or feel your temperature increase just know that they Holy Spirit is healing you." I received a phone call from one of the individuals. He shared with me he was experiencing heat. Praise the Lord for the Healing power of God that still is active today.
I pray that this month you will take advantage of all the opportunities to give someone the Word of God to direct their lives.
Blessings,
Todd
